Online Learning Programs

Live, one-to-one sessions with a Stowell clinician, from home.

For families who don’t live near our Chino, Irvine or Pasadena centers, across California and beyond.

Real Help, Wherever You Live

Your child is bright and working hard, but reading, listening, attention or getting work done is still a daily struggle. Maybe you have tried tutoring or school support, or you already have an evaluation that named the problem without a plan to fix it. And the nearest Stowell center is too far for regular visits.

Our online programs bring the same one-to-one work we do in our Chino, Irvine and Pasadena centers to your home, live, with a Stowell clinician on a video call. We look for the underlying skills that make learning hard, such as auditory processing, visual processing, memory and attention, and we build them directly.

Families across California and in other states work with us this way, and so do adults who want help for themselves.

How Online Programs Work

The steps are the same as in our centers. Only the setting changes.

1

Free Call

Talk with a Learning Specialist for about 30 minutes. Tell us what you are seeing at home and at school, and ask anything about online sessions.

2

Functional Evaluation

One-to-one testing of the processing and thinking skills underneath learning, plus reading, writing, spelling and math. It can be done at one of our centers or remotely.

3

Your Written Plan

We walk you through the results and a personalized plan: which skills are weak, how they affect your child, what we recommend, and what it costs.

4

Live Sessions

Your child meets one to one with Stowell clinicians by video on a set schedule, and the plan is adjusted as skills improve.

What Online Sessions Are, and What They Are Not

Always One to One

  • Your child is the only student in every session
  • A live clinician, not an app or a recorded course
  • No group classes

The Same Programs

  • The same evaluation and treatment planning as our centers
  • Programs for auditory processing, reading, attention, memory and executive function
  • Every student's program is reviewed weekly by our clinical team

Parents in the Loop

  • Always kept in the loop on progress
  • Encouraged to observe a session each month
  • Materials and coaching for any practice at home

Is Online a Good Fit for Your Child?

We will tell you honestly. Online works very well for many students, and for some, time in a center is the better choice.

Online Usually Works Well When

  • Your child can work with an adult on a video call for a full session, with a parent nearby for younger children
  • You have a quiet space, a computer with a camera and a reliable internet connection
  • Driving to a center several times a week is not realistic for your family
  • You live outside Southern California or outside the state

In Person May Be Better When

  • The evaluation shows a lot of movement and balance work is needed, which we do in our centers
  • Your child is very young or finds screens hard to tolerate
  • You live within reach of Chino, Irvine or Pasadena and can attend in person

Some families do a mix: time in a center, then online sessions at home.

“We spent 6 months with Stowell Learning Center and saw a significant improvement in terms of language and comprehension of our son. … She was able to build a good connection with our son even through online sessions.”

Online Program Questions

Are online sessions the same program as in your centers?

Yes. Online students complete the same Functional Evaluation, receive a personalized plan, and work one to one with Stowell clinicians on the same Signature or Intensive schedule. The work happens on a live video call instead of at a station in our center.

Does my child have to come to a center for testing?

No. The Functional Evaluation can be done onsite at one of our centers or remotely. Your Learning Specialist will talk through the options with you and help you choose what works for your family.

What does my child need for online sessions?

A computer with a camera and microphone, a reliable internet connection and a quiet place to work. Younger children do best with a parent nearby. If the plan includes listening work at home, we will tell you exactly what is needed.

Do you work with families outside California?

Yes. We work with families in other states through online programs. Call 1-877-774-0444 or schedule a free call to talk through scheduling and time zones.

Do you still have a center in Thousand Oaks?

No. Our Thousand Oaks center has closed. Families in Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Agoura Hills and the rest of the Conejo Valley can work with us online, or in person at our Pasadena center.

How do I know if this is the right help for my child?

Start with the free call. If we feel that we cannot help, we will tell you, and we will work with your family to try to find someone who can.
