About SLC
The Stowell Learning Center was established in 1984 as a diagnostic, tutorial center for students with learning disabilities. In the past 25 years we have helped thousands of students with a variety of learning challenges become successful learners.
Our goal for each student, regardless of age, is that he/she becomes as comfortable and independent a learner as possible. In order to do this, we work closely with parents, communicate with schools, and are continually seeking to find and implement the most effective and efficient strategies and programs. We work one-to-one with students in a positive, caring environment to provide instruction that is targeted to their specific needs and learning style.
Current brain research validates what we have seen with thousands of children and adults over the past 25 years. Learning disabilities, including dyslexia do not have to be permanent. With specific, intensive training, the brain can learn to think about, or process information in more efficient ways. There are too many children struggling through each day trying to compensate for their learning challenges. It doesn't have to be this way and we want the world to know it.
In addition to providing diagnostic evaluations and cognitive educational therapy for students, the Stowell Learning Center is a training facility for therapists across the U.S. and Canada in several highly successful, "cutting-edge" programs. These include:
- PACE (Processing and Cognitive Enhancement)
- Master the Code
- Samonas Sound Therapy
- Learning Ears®
- Discover Math
- Edu-Therapeutics™
- Auditory Stimulation and Training
- Core Learning Skills Training
The Learning Center typically employs 12-14 full and part-time clinical staff. All clinicians in the Learning Center have been extensively trained in the methods we use.
